The local side of the DEN revolves around our leadership councils. Ifyou're looking to form one in your state or have some suggestions for the leaders in your state, you can chat about such things here.

I would very much like to start one for North Carolina. What needs to be done to get one started?
Conni
Yer in the right place. I'd start a new Topic saying that you're interested in starting an LC for NC. That way people will see it, instead of it being buried in this "About" topic.
The first step is to get a few people who are interested. You need to have a council chair, an events chair and a blog chair. Once you have those, Jannita can help you take the next steps.
Hi Conni!
The TN LC is very active, and we have put on some great (in our opinion) prof. development activities for the people in our area. If you need any help on getting started feel free to give us an e-mail! We would all be glad to help. You can reach us at TN.DEN.Leaders@gmail.com

Steve,
If we have those key people to star the Ohio DEN, who trains us? Where do we get the funding to host events? How do we go about contacting individuals to speak at the events?

Christy-
Our DEN team helps you get things rolling in OH and also provides you with a budget to host events. Please email me at Jannita_Demian@discovery.com and we can discuss in further.

I would like to know if there is one in Illinois, if not, I would like to start one. I had the pleasure of attending the Young Scientist Challenge last week with my student (a finalist Gokul Krishnan)and met Bill Goodwyn who stated he would be following up with me and my school issues concerning united streaming. I would very much like to assist other teachers and administrators use this vauable educational tool.
Good news! The IL LC is up and running! For more information on how to get involved please email me at Jannita_Demian@discovery.com and make sure you visit their blog at http://blog.discoveryeducation.com/illinois/
Congrats on attending the Young Scientist Challenge!

It doesn't seem that there are any groups in California. I am a second year teacher that was put in charge of ASB and would love to get involved with this sort of thing. I am lucky enough to have the ability to project any sort of image on a screen in the front of my room because of a digital projector and a document camera. It really helps in provding images to the students about the topics we study.
Unless I'm missing something, I don't see Georgia and would like to get us "on the map" so to speak. From what I read I'll need the following : a council chair, an events chair and a blog chair. Please excuse my ignorance in all of this, but is there a place to find the job descriptions or responsibilities for these? Thank you!

This event is free for STAR Discovery Educators. Contact your DEN team for more details.
Who did I contact as instructed on the website?
